Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of ToolQuilt. Using the site means you accept them. They are short because the site is simple: it does arithmetic on colors and publishes articles about color.

What you may do

Use the tools for anything: personal projects, client work, commercial products, print. Colors themselves are not copyrightable, and nothing generated here carries a license or an attribution requirement. Palettes, gradients, converted values and exported code are yours.

You may quote from the articles with attribution and a link. You may not republish an article in full without permission.

What you may not do

• Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, or run automated requests against the tools as a free computation service. If you need bulk color math, the algorithms are all standard and documented on the about page, so implement them yourself.
• Attempt to gain access to any part of the system you have not been given access to, or probe it for vulnerabilities without asking first. If you find something, tell us. That is welcome.
• Use the contact form to send advertising, or anything unlawful, abusive or deliberately misleading.
• Present the site, or a copy of it, as your own.

The content is not advice

The articles and the tool output are information, not professional advice. In particular, the accessibility numbers are a guide to a technical standard and not a legal opinion about whether your product complies with any law. This is covered in more detail on the disclaimer.

Availability

The site is provided "as is" and free of charge. There is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment and no promise that any tool or URL will still exist tomorrow. Old URLs will be redirected rather than broken wherever that is practical, because shareable result links are the point of the tools.

Intellectual property

The site's name, design, written articles and source code belong to Mian Zaka, except where third party components are used under their own licenses. The color science implemented here is published, standard and belongs to nobody: WCAG 2.2, APCA, CIE color spaces and OKLab are all open specifications.

Links to other sites

Articles link to external references such as specifications, research papers and other tools. Those sites are not under our control and their content is not our responsibility.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mian Zaka is not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site, including a design decision you made on the basis of a number shown here, an accessibility audit you failed, or a print run whose colors came out wrong. Verify anything that matters before you commit to it.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top will change with them, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the nonexclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pakistan. If you use this site as a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away any protection you are entitled to under the mandatory law of the country where you live.
